I'm working on a little project and am gonna search around town tomorrow for some used parts. My 3 is a 2005s sedan. It has the clear rear light housings w/the plastic-chrome rings around the rear lights. S/T, T, & BU.

My question is what year models will have the same rear lights as mine?

Any '04-'06 3s sedan will have the same lights.

In '04-'06 the 3i had red outer lenses. In '07 the lights, while ostensibly the same, were changed slightly..... basically the yellow lens over the turn signal became clear, and they swapped the red lens for a clear lens with a red piece underneath it. Also in '07 the OEM LED tails became available for the sedan.

Also you can only swap with another sedan, hatchback lights won't fit your car.

Well, that makes me curious. I was wanting to make my existing backup's a second pair of STOP/TAIL lights to have 2 round reds & 1 yellow on each side.

Is there an OEM pc. that I could use?

If you're just looking to mod the section with the backup light then that portion is the same on all '04-'09 3s models, and all '07-'09 3i models. (It would be the same on the '04-'06 3i model except the outer shell is red) I'm not positive but that might actually be the same between the sedan and hatch, though I'd check p/n's with someone first.

If you're looking to swap the clear lens out with a red one then you could potentially look into a EDM rear fog light. Basically it replaces one of the back up lights with a red rear facing fog lamp (to warn other drivers about you). Not sure what they would cost, and I suppose you'd need to get two to get two red lenses.

I new nothing of the rear fog. Now thats not bad. I will look into that for sure.
I added some more pics to the thread in interior/exterior. What do you think?
