Ground Control CO's vs. H&R Sport and something else...

Hey all, I am coming from an H&R Sport and Bilstein sport setup that I loved. Can anyone tell me how the Ground Control setup compares to that? Also what are the shock options out there for the 02' P5?

Thanks!

There are MazdaSpeed adjustables available at
www.mazdamotorsports.com
Tokico is coming out with or already has Illuminas for the P5.
JIC Magic has some kick-*** true coilover systems for the P5.
I am not sure if there are Koni's out or not...anybody?

Ok so explain this to me...

Why are the GC's so damn cheap? I mean I figured that $369 was for 1 corner! I know that coilovers for my 2000 A4 started at about $1400.

I mean the H&R's are 2ish, then add someone's struts and you're gona be in the 5-600 range, right?

So how are the GC's so affordable? You'll have to excuse my "if it looks to good to be true it probably is mentality!"

Thanks!
-A

*** Update: Ok, now I get it... $369 is for the coils only, you still need a strut. Thought I was gion crazy there for a minute!

Hey Greddy917, do you have the Ground Control coilovers on your stock P5 struts?

heh, HAD my A4.

Ok, so does it strike anyone else as odd that you'd put GC coilover sleeves onto your stock struts? I mean, it's a mismatch and all. How does the stock strut do with the stiffer rate of the the GC (Eibach) springs?

I'm thinking more and more of just going back to H&R sport and some other strut.

Yes...I will be switching to the Mazdaspeed adjustables when these are blown. As for ride quality...the GC's w/stock struts are not too shabby...definitely a smooth ride and quite agile. If you do go GC....make sure you request a taller spring...if you dont, your car will be slammed (at highest setting) like mine and the only way you can go will be down...not a bad thing in of itself...but I would like to be able to raise her up a tad if I get the AutoExe or MintBlue front spoiler....I test fitted the AutoExe front spoiler and only had 3 inches of clearance between the bottom of the spoiler and the ground...serious bummer

What different spring sizes are there?

My bad, I was asking when you said get a diff. spring height, did you mean that there were diff. springs for P5 applications, or do you mean a diff spring in general.

The GC for the Protege5 have had 2 different spring lengths. When I first got mine (Last July-Aug) they only had one size, and it slammed the car 1.5" while set at the highest setting. They now offer a taller spring that will sit at stock height when set at the highest setting. I don't know if they still offer both or only the taller, however I have also heard you can request a specific setup for what you want and they will make it.

Anyone think GC will trade my springs if I told them I just found out they gave me the wrong ones?

Ahh, then that's what I'll do. I really can't use a totally slammed car. Expecialliy in the winter, I really need to get back to stock height.
