I just bought a 2003 10" Kicker Comp vr and I was wondering what is the best way to wire it up? It is the 4 ohm dvc model. I currently have a sony xplod amp ( model xm-1502sx 150 x 2 rated power, 300 x 2 max power ) Currently I have the amp bridged and I hooked up the wires to the posts on the sub that had dots on them. Would I be better off running of of each channel of the amp to a seperate coil on the sub or am I good to go? Im not looking to pound the **** out of the sub but I do want to be able to turn it up and jam out every once in a while. It sounds pretty good now but I just wanted to know what the most efficent way to wire it up would be. Thanks!

Well, it depends on what model woofer you got. Does it have 2 2-ohm VCs or 2 4-ohm VCs? If it has 2 ohm VCs, then you can wire them in series and push the amp mono at 4ohms. Otherwise, that amp cannot run at 2ohm mono, so you would have to run each channel to one voice coil.

I have one 10" kicker comp vr with 2 4-ohm VCs. So that means that i need to run 1 channel of the amp to 1 vc on the sub and the other channel to the other vc?

Yes, Like this one...the amp was tested by CarAudioMag here:

and they said it cannot handle the 2 ohm mono load, so you can only run it liek the first picture. You will get 150W per channel though, which is not bad at all. This is not the best amp for running subs, but it should be adequate.

Ok thanks alot! My friend said he would sell me his kicker amp for $200. I think its the KX200.2 model. Im may do that or find another one, but I don't have the cash right now so Im stuck with the sony. Thanks for your help!
