do the above...and ENSURE you disconnect the NEGITIVE terminal of your battery...NOT the positive.
then after doing the above...start the car and allow it to idle for about 10 minutes...this gives the ECU a little time to RELEARN your car and all the NORMAL settings. then drive as if nothing had happened.

yep...never take off the positive first. then the battery may discharge way more than the 12v and possibly more amps and make quick work of the electronics in your car. If you do ever take out the positive, then unplug the negative so that both terminals are unplugged, then plug in the positive, then the negative. The negative terminal should always be the last terminal connected
