Question Mazda Protege 1994 and Check Engine Light

Hello Everyone,

I have a mazda protege 94 which has about 75000 miles on it. Me and my wife have observed following symptons and I do not know what to do about it. The symptons are as follows

1) While driving the check engine light comes on and the RPM drops, My wife told me that the car almost stopped.
2) When I put the key in ignition and turn the engine does not crank. It happened only once and never happened again.

These things are happening randomly and I have not been able to recreate these scenarios again. My wife is worried because she is using the car with two kids.

I appreciate your help and time.

Thanks
Satish

Well, technically speaking, you didn't ask a question.

You just made a couple of statements.

Now my suggestion from what you said is get AAA.

and 2 some parts houses will run a computer check for free and maybe it can tell you what happened - if there are no places that will do it for free, find some place that will do it and pay for a check.

A couple other things, Maybe:

the ignition switch is wearing and contacts are losing contact or corroded or something, battery cables clean/check both ends of both cables, check under the hood for loose electrical connections or components. Wiggle wires while it is running (take all the normal precautions) and see if you can cause an abnormality to occur.

HTH
