Unhappy wont start

Hello everyone been a lurker for a while. I need some help. Installed an intake adapter and cone filter this morning. In doing so I needed to remove the harness from the MAF , so I could lift out the old airbox. So I unscrewed the 2 bolts that connect the harnes to it,pulled it out bout 1/2in or so and realized that it wouldnt come apart and put it back together. had to wrestle with the airbox to get it out finally did.
So I put it all back together and now the car will barely stay running and if I touch the gas it will die, thats if it will start. I even disconnected the bat for a few hoping to get the comp to reset with no luck.
So am I screwed and need a new MAF? Or is there something else I can do.
Oh yea its a 91 dx 5 speed 110k miles. Thanks for your help!!

From what it sounds like, your engine is doing exactly what it would be doing if there was no MAF at all...

It might be damaged, connected wrong or something of the sort.... Try disconnecting it and re-connecting it.... That might help... Check all the connections to see if any of them are corroded or puilled out....

It probably is directly linked to the MAF, though, from what you're saying.

Check the connections before you buy it, though....

Well went to jyard today and bought a new MAF for $35 pulled it myself off of a 91 323 w 52k miles. I looked at a few escort gt's and one LX Pro but didnt know if it would work, the letter on it was a U I believe, and the one I had and the one I bought was an S. Would the one from a GT with DOHC work on a SOHC? Just curious thanks!!!
Also got the trunk light switch from the LX,plugged it in and now I have a trunk light. YEA

No, you need an S, not a U. When I did my head swap, I had to change the MAF.
