Splash Guard Shield

Hi, I currently own a 2004 Mazda 3 and just realized that the splash shield which covers the engine is broken. According to the dealer, it is going to cost me more than 200 dollars if I want to get a new one. But interestingly, they said it's not necessary to have it. I talked to another local auto shop and they told me pretty much the same thing. My only concern is that I live in Michigan, and we are going to be hit by snow pretty soon. I was just wondering if that was safe to drive without the splash shield? I know this question might sound naive and stupid, but I would really appreciate any suggestions!

You do mean the one on the top of the engine? If so, I agree with them--you do not need it. They are generally installed mostly for show.

Lower Engine Splash Shield

Hello.. just wanted to add some thoughts to your problem. That lower shield, if we are talking about the one that covers the bottom of your engine. Well, that shield is a good thing to have. I understand your dealer wants alot of $$ for it, we have it for alot cheaper on our website. Here is the link: http://www.buyourmazdaparts.com/inde...t_detail&p=555

This shield is designed to let proper air flow go through our Maz 3. Plus protects vital engine components from debris and water. If this shield is missing, Im sure you are getting a flapping noise around 50-60 mph when the two side shields start flapping, they are directly supported by the lower shield. I hope this helps.

REMEMBER FREE SHIPPING ON ALMOST EVERYTHING WE SELL, NO MIN DOLLAR AMOUNT!
