Mazda 3 gas problem

a lot of the times that i fill up at gas stations the gas pump keeps stopping randomly when the tank is not even full. I have tried going to different gas stations and pumps lately but it still does the same thing. One time i asked the gas pump attendant if something is wrong with the car and he said that he had seen this happen with older hyundais but not mazdas!!! i can live with it but it is really annoying can anyone help???

pull the pump handle out a little bit. not sticking it in all the way tends to help a lot of people.

that actually happened to me when i was filling up my parents Prius.....yes they own the "iiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmm ggggggggggaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy" car. and sadly ive driven it, BUT only with a hat and sunglasses on. i couldnt even get the damn gas pump to stay going in that freakin wreck of a car. if i pulled it out just a little bit it would spill out instead of stop when its full. good luck with that man.

This is the same problem I am having....anyone know what the cause and solution is before I have to go to the stealer for an expensive answer?

I have a 2004 Mazda 3 and that has recently happened to me as well. It seemed to work fine all summer long, then when the cold weather hit, it took forever to get gas into the tank. It seemed as if it was air locked.

I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but, there is a filter in the rear wheel well (passenger side) which runs into the tank. I took it apart and cleaned it, it was extremely dirty, and the gas went in much better, still not 100%, but better.

If anyone else is still having this problem or could try the fix as well, please let me know how you make out.

Thanks, mine seems to miraculousley cured itself...(we had a warm spell). I'll check out the filter too..
