A bit of a double standard. Who cares? I hope not anybody, but I guess that is not the case. I could care less if we have members on the board that are black, white, green with pink polka-dots, triple transexuals from Jupiter, or whatever. This is a car forum where we share ideas and interact with people with one common interest. Whatever other interests members have that don't cause harm to others is of no concern to me. I don't play G-d with people. That is what off-topic forum is for I thought. This post is in no way to incite or flame in any way. I truly enjoy the protege boards but respectfully disagree with this one issue. I'd just like to think we were above that.


BTW (as an edit) I've sold some parts to a member who posted on that thread. Individual was true to their word and transaction went fine. I also learned some facts from that member's posts I never knew before and they were helpful. I never knew up until today that person was gay. My point is so what? That thread title ("Any other Homosexual Protege Owners") is an eye catcher to say the least and I even posted to it with a similar post to Cable's post. But I thought about it for a minute and deleted it. It's Off-Topic, we talk about **** and *** (female that is) left and right. Would we delete a thread that was titled "Any other Protege Lesbian Owners" ? - and please don't say that's different - it's the same principle.

Well, I just read the other thread, I thought it was totally uncalled for to close it. I agree there are a lot of double-standards here on the boards, hell I started a thread on the top 5 people you wanna bang. I didn't read any graphic material in the thread. Oh well.

Hey...well hopefully it's kinda like the picture says..."this is the room of people who care.." Meaning that people won't think of someone differently one way or the other.

I think it's pretty cool that we have people be open about it, even though the thread got closed

No offense, John, but that's bullshit.

There have been PLENTY of controversial threads here: politics, religion, etc. And some of these threads got pretty personal, with flames and such all over the place. They were NOT closed.

I know that the mods aren't doing this for a living or anything, but I hope that as the club continues to grow, serious thought is given to the consistency with which the "rules" are enforced.

Before you insult my abilities to carry on intelligent conversation, I suggest you pull up a chair and start making some of your own contributions. While I acknowledge that my response was driven by emotion, it in no way negates the fact that the thread I was referring to was closed down for no reason other than that it contained mention of persons being gay. I do not retract any of my statements. There was no reason for that thread to be shut down. There was no sexual conversation of any kind. The supposed "controversy" was virtually nonexistent when compared many of the threads which continue uninterrupted long after they've turned into flame wars. The thread was started simply to give a chance for those of us who'd rather do without females to be introduced to each other.

I will not lighten up. Not when blatant double standards are imposed without explanation. If you look at the majority of the reactions following the closing of said thread, you will see that you are vastly outnumbered if you think that the thread was closed justly. You need to wake up and realize that repression, bigotry, and discrimination are no longer acceptable.
