Clicking when Accelerating and Stopping

I have a 2008 3 and just recently it started to click almost everytime that I stop it clicks and when I accelerate it clicks in the front left side. Could this be a motor mount that busted? I noticed a click sometimes when I was turning at low speeds (<5mph), but it didnt happen all that often and now this clicking that I hear happens more often.

Is the click just once, or is it a continuous clicking during acceleration?

Generally i'd guess a motor mount, something shifting, a forgotten tool rolling around. Specifically from one side it could be a loose strut mount, or there could be a brake pad rattling, put the brake on and it slides one way, take the brake off and it falls back down.

If it was an old car i'd think of a CV joint going, it's possible that you had a boot tear and lost grease - thus the clicking now. The CV joint option would make a lot more noise when accelerating with the wheels turned rather than straight - though I guess a loose strut could do the same sort of thing.

If it happens when moving slow, open the hood and have someone listen while you start off from a stop, see if you can identify where it's coming from.
