went into rosenthal nissan/mazda in tysons corner the other day for 30k scheduled maintenance. i also wanted them to look at clutch shudder and a rattle that happens at high-speed cornering. if not for that i wouldve brought it to my local shop and saved a bundle. well they didnt experience any clutch shudder (it really only happens during winter anyway). they told me the rattle was my "aftermarket shifter bushings"...well i know thats not it, and its the shifter not the bushings hitting up against the heatshield. so that was a waste of time. unless the car falls out from under me, this is probably the last trip to the dealer. i will have them inspect my motor mounts before my warranty goes out.

total bill: $681
breakdown:
$480 for the 30k maintenance
$129 for transmission flush (said my transmission fluid was dirty)
$89 wheel alignment - last time i had one done was a year ago
gave me a small 10% discount on 30k, i'll try to bring them coupons for wheel alignment and transmission flush posted their website to see if they'll refund me the difference.

at least now i know to tell any shop that i wont need a transmission flush or a wheel alignment if they "recommend" it. but im also out almost $700.

I know when we do a 30k service, we do alot more than that. Flush the trans, flush coolant, flush brake fluid, run the injector flush and intake system (including valve) cleaner machines.. change the spark plugs (if not platinum), full inspection, lube all doors locks and hinges, oil change, tire rotation, air filter, cabin filter (if equiped), and I'm probably missing a few things, but it usually all comes out to about $799 I believe..

You should find out all what they did for the 30K service.

We also do alot more on the 30K services because we go by the "harsh conditions" schedule - living in AK.

I'm sure he had more than just an oil change/spark plugs done.

they pretty much dipped the car in lube, squeaks that once bothered me are gone or barely audible. they also did everything you described except the air filter. its a K&N so i'm probably gonna clean it next weekend. i rarely have opportunity during the week where i can just take 15 mins to wash & re-oil it.
