Reverse HID swap

I know quite a few people on here have probably swapped HID's for stock lights, and I know this is really an oddball question, but due to the road conditions out here (I could post pics of the roads, but let's just say that I had to buy 0.5" LIFTING springs to get my Mazda up No.9 Hollar Road here in Wetzel County, WV, and the road surface is more pothole than road, so you drive dodging the sections of original-height road trying to keep it in the potholes out here ) so it eats Shocks and Lights. I understand that I will be buying 2 sets of shocks a year (I swear Monroe named Wetzel County COUNTY OF THE YEAR for the last bazillion years ) and replacing multiple headlights, which is why I am asking this. The local autoparts store sells HID's for my car ... for $320.98 including tax a pop, and I was wondering if there is any way to swap the HID's for the Halogen lights so a) it is easier to replace, and b) so it costs $42.78 instead of $320.98? I know it seems odd, but I really want to go to the regular bulbs (also the HID's are a special order item, so it takes 2 weeks to get them in ... and before you say "can't you order them from somewhere else" try getting someplace to ship to a highway contract route).

Thanks all,

- Jake R.
Wetzel County, WV (only reason we say what county we are from out this way is that, well, there just ain't no town around here).

I don't know with your state regulation, but how about installing an auxiliary light? I bought a rigid srm from 4wheelonline for only $95 that includes shipping to my door steps. It really helped a lot. It provided a wider beam angle and coverage and better lighting compared with regular hid kits.

You should also consider not buying insanely expensive D2S lamps. Check out The Retrofit Source Inc. They have a number of high quality lamps (like the Phillips 81522+ lamps) which are much MUCH more affordable than that.
