Has anyone installed aftermarket 18" wheels for a Mazda 3s?

I currently have a 5-door 3s on order and I'd like to update the wheels right away.

I'm looking at either 215/45 on 18x7.5" wheels or 225/50 on 18x7.5" wheels. Will these look OK without lowering the suspension?

Another concern I have is the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that will come with my vehicle. I've been told that the sensors cannot be transferred to the aftermarket wheels I want (SSR Competition - Anthracite). Supposedly, I'll get an "error code" if I install wheels without the TPMS sensors. Does this mean just a warning light or will other systems be impacted (i.e. ABS?). I could live with the light...but buzzing or impact to ABS would definitely be a "no go".

Any advice would be great!

I'm not sure about the Tire Pressure Monitor, but if you go with 18" rim and 225/?-18 wheels they should be 225/40-18's. A 225/50-18 would look really dumb. It might even rub due to the higher sidewalls?!?!? Check this link! http://mazda3forums.com/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=cd5608d492a6b9c8ad9bb50e451627c3

Oops. That 225/50 - 18 was my typo. I meant 225/40 - 18. I was thinking about my 1993 RX-7 which as 225/50 16s stock :)

ugh, found an old post. For anyone looking you can get the TPMS from ebay. I got a set of 4 from an 06 mazda 3 to put in my winter rims. They work perfectly (as long as they are put in and sealed well) for about $140 shipped I think.

I've got P215/40R18 on my 3. It came factory with P205/50R17. The 18's are about the same O.D. as the 17's.

I have 225/40 on 18x7.5" on my 05 Mazda 3 HB. They look great, but you won't be able to lower your car much, my tires rub, but only because of the width of the tires.
