View Full Version : GROUP BUY FOR BODYKITS!!!! Read this -- awesome deal!
Bizob June-4th-2003, 11:44 PM Yes, you read the subject of this thread correctly.
I talked to the owner of Eastend2K, the company that made my custom rear bumper and shaved my front bumper...
You guys don't know how lucky you are that I'm willing to GIVE UP MY CAR for who knows how long, but I figured I would have wanted someone to do this for me when I was looking for a kit.....
The bodykit will fit the 1990-94 Protege (and 95 Protege S in Canada).
The front bumper will fit the 1990-94 323.
If we can arrange a group buy of 10 people or more, the price will be approximately 750$US for the full 4pc bodykit.
The kit will be the combination that got the biggest response online:
R34 Front bumper:

Black Widow Side skirts:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid63/p3856e9c2493cc3686e82bad268795d12/fc0ce29e.jpg
Black Widow Rear Bumper:
http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_a/240000-240999/240016_36_full.jpg
The cost of the rear bumper alone (for those who had shown interest in getting the rear only) will be aprrox. 300$US -- I can get these for you quicly.--
The bodykit will bolt on directly as it will be custom fitted to my car in the shop. However, just like any other bodykit, it should be installed by a professionnal.
The material is called flexiglass. We tested my rear bumper for flexibility.... I was able to twist it around like a pretzel and touch the bottom lip to the top edge. It is very flexible.... As flexible as urethane and as light as fiberglass.... Trust me, the quality is amazing.
This is the best opportunity you will ever get to have a full bodykit for your Protege at such a price. There may be more made later, but I definately can't garantee it, and it won't be soon. If you guys don't take them now, I won't listen to you complain that there are no kits for Proteges, because here it is.
Let me know, we want to get started next week, so I need confirmation from everyone. I would feel better being able to give him a deposit, but we can talk about that later. Right now, I just need 10 of you to say yes to give him the go-ahead.
Please also spread the word to any Protege owners you know that are not members of Protegeclub.com. We can make more than 10 if the demand is higher.
ALSO:
Carbon Fiber hoods will also be available for 560$US each as a part of a seperate groupbuy that also has a minimum of 10 people.
CF trunks are also available at a special price if purchased along with a hood, but no prices have been established so far.
All prices exclude shipping.
Roach220 June-5th-2003, 01:29 AM WTF $300.00 for a f*%king bumper what kind of jack ass do you think I am thats Bullshit a big steaming pile of Bullshit!!!!!!!
Just kidding 300 is dirt f*%king cheap and for a custom one at that. If you can can you find out how much it would cost to shave it to I dont want my plate there. it staying where it is on the trunk.
Thank you!
Just for the record I dont say this much but
YOU KICK ASS!!!
And one more thing YEs YEs YEs YEs YEs where do I send the cash To show my intent I want to send some as soon as I get paid on the 15th It wont be the full but it will show my complete want of that bumper..
PAypal or something..and if no one else wants one see if he will make me one anyways even if it cost more.
Thanks again.
sweetprotege93 June-5th-2003, 02:15 PM Very good deal! How much weight do you think it will add to the car?
Pro1GT June-5th-2003, 03:03 PM Do canadian residents get cash at par?? lol j/k
I'm definately interested wouldnt mind seeing one of the finished products first tho...
-also guessing that the bumpers will not use stock supports??
-what about front room for an intercooler (BPT upgrade)
G-Man June-5th-2003, 03:44 PM SOOOO SOOO SO SO SO DAMN INTERESTED!!!!
I live in ontario, would you happen to know how much shipping would be from where they are made to here?? Come on guys, we need 10 ppl . You dont know how long i have been waiting for a nice kit to roll around, and here it is!!
will he make it if we dont get 10 ppl?
Bizob June-5th-2003, 08:55 PM Roach, I'll see what I can do about the hole for the liscence plate. It's in the mold, so if you want it gone, some extra work would have to be done.... It will be less durable than the bumper as is (slight chance of cracking because of the flexibility of the material). I'll see what I can do, though.
And don't worry, even if nobody else wants a bumper, I'll get you one.

It's ALOT lighter. It will reduce the weight. I'll find out by how much, but I won't know until it's done, sorry... I can tell you for the rear soon, but I know it's lighter.

Yes, they will use the stock supports and allow you to keep the impact bumpers there (unlike any other kit offered for the Protege).
Plenty of room for an intercooler, just look at the pic of the front bumper...

They're made in Montreal, so if you can find the cheapest company that ships between here and where you are, let me know... I'll find out which company Eastend uses.
Loundarp June-6th-2003, 09:06 AM is that possible to only have the front bumper?
G-Man June-6th-2003, 11:17 PM so what happens if you dont get 10 ppl, they wont be made??
And say 10 ppl are gathered with $ in hand, how long will it take to get the kit on my doorstep?

Yes, but you'll have to wait for the price... I can tell you right now that it will be more expensive if the full kit does'nt get made. I'll try to get you a price soon.

The price will change depending on the amount of buyers. The prices quoted were for a minimum of 10 people. That's how groupbuys work.
As for when they will be ready, that depends how soon the go-ahead comes...
jedwards242000 June-7th-2003, 01:44 PM i would like to get the kit however financial situations would make me have to wait about 5-7 months but if you could wait i would definitely get the kit let me know
gen1pro June-8th-2003, 01:08 AM Bob put me down for the rear bumper. I contacted you a couple of weeks ago and said that I wanted one and I'm ready. How soon can I get it.
gen1pro June-8th-2003, 01:16 AM I like the side skirts you have on your car. Where did you get them? And what car are they originally from?
itzkcatz June-8th-2003, 01:16 AM CF hood and trunk. Whens that getting made im in for those :-)

I'll let you know how soon the back can be made.
As for the sideskirts, they're custom made... they were originally for a E46 BMW M3 and I modified them. I don't want to make a mold of them, so the Eastend kit will come with Black Widow sideskirts. I think they will look better with the Protege's lines than mine, but I want my car to stay as unique as possible, so I'll prolly keep the M3 sideskirts... I might switch them around depending on my mood though, if they give me another kit for advertising....

That's just a possibility, we'll have to look into that a little more, I just wanted to know who would be interested if we were to actually make them.
_______________________________________
Here's who I've got so far:
Full kit:
-G-Man (?)
Rear only:
-Roach220
-gen1pro
CF hood:
-itzcatz
Post your name and what you want on this thread, please, then PM me your address so I know where they will be going (not necessarily your exact address, but at least State/Province and City)
itzkcatz June-8th-2003, 04:56 PM Ive been wanting a CF hood and trunk lid. Please let there be 10 people that atleast want a hood. i always see people complaining theres no kits made this is your chance cough up your college money :-)
Tweeaks June-9th-2003, 12:51 AM I'm in for the whole kit if it doesn't happen for a month or two. I just started up a body shop and am keeping some "just in case money" and if i don't have to use it for anything i will definately get a kit. Oh yeah also if the whole kit isn't going to be made would the front bumper only be a possibility? What would it cost if just 2 people wanted the front bumper only?
Bizob June-9th-2003, 01:45 AM I'll be getting prices for sideskirts only and front bumpers only soon, since alot of people are asking for individual prices.
You should hear from me again soon.
Here's the updated list:
Full kit:
-G-Man (?)
-Tweeaks
Rear only:
-Roach220
-gen1pro
CF hood and trunk:
-itzcatz
Roach220 June-9th-2003, 02:24 PM I would like CF stuff but I dont think I can afford those and the bumper. And I want the bumper more I just think that it is the only good looking one out there. And I dont want to miss out and at this price damn.
Roach220 June-9th-2003, 02:29 PM And bob to really dont matter if the bumper is a little less durable i can work with that while I am going to drive it really drive it is no longer going be my everyday car.
Loundarp June-13th-2003, 08:50 AM any update on front bumper prize??
jedwards242000 June-14th-2003, 07:23 PM so i guess the time it would take for me to save for te whole kit is too long it would probly take me about 4 months at the most
Bizob June-15th-2003, 01:19 AM The front bumper alone will be 600$US. (It's more expensive than the rear, because it has to made from scratch, where as the rear already has a mold... Besides, that's still cheaper than I paid for my rear.)
Roach, he does'nt seem to want to flush the plate, but I'll see what I can do.
jedwards, I don't know when the full kit will actually be produced, so if we don't get 10 people sooner, then you'll have enough when the time comes.... Start looking harder at that Wendys 0,99$ menu.... :P
More news to come as soon as I hear more. I'm bringing my car into the shop this week, so I'll have lots of time to talk to him about it.
gen1pro June-15th-2003, 05:01 AM For those of us who just want a rear bumper, do you know when we can order it bob. Not trying to rush you its just I've been waiting a loooooonng time for this so I'm ready.
kwesi
jedwards242000 June-15th-2003, 10:11 AM thanx bob i'll keep the wendy's thing in mind also i'll keep saving if this doesn't go through i'll probly get something from pakfeifer
Bizob June-18th-2003, 01:02 AM For the back bumpers, it can be done pretty soon, I'm going to the shop tomorrow, so I'll give him the word to start the work. If he tells me he wants a deposit, you'll be getting a PM.
I'll need a mailing address and nearest commercial airport for anyone interested please.
More to come, sorry for the short reply, I've been real busy... PM me for more details.
aupilotxp June-20th-2003, 10:42 PM Hi, I just bought my 94 protege....interested in the body kit, but i have to work all summer to pay my grandparents back the money i owe....in the future, when i have money, where can i get this body kit or who can i contact....thanks for any help...
Marc Payne
Bizob June-21st-2003, 12:55 PM If you want one later on, just let me know on this forum (you can send me a PM) and I'll set it up for you, but if it's being made individually and not as a part of a groupbuy, it will be more expensive.
itzkcatz June-21st-2003, 04:46 PM Whats up with the carbon fiber hood and trunk lid? ...
gen1pro July-2nd-2003, 08:13 AM Has anyone heard anything about the rar bumper b/c I have my car going into the body shop next week to get painted and I thought I would have had the rear bumper by now.I wanted to get it so I wouldn't have paint the car and then Have to go back and paint the bumper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
gen1pro
Bizob July-7th-2003, 02:37 AM Kwesi, check your PMs.
As for the CF hood and trunk. The hood will be made available as soon as I can line up 10 people for it. I might get him to spring for it with 5 people, but 10 will seal the deal. Price is 750$CAN (560$US). The hood will be fully framed to make it safe.
The trunk is in the works, but won't be available as soon... Also, it will be flushed out the way mine is.
The deal is still on for the full kit, so as soon as we get up to 10, the work starts.
itzkcatz July-7th-2003, 06:37 PM The center garnish will be flushed?.. If so i dont want the trunk i have a familia garnish. But im in for the hood. CF frame? .What kinda quality will this hood be ? ..Jon

At that price, it is a fiberglass frame with a carbon top panel and carbon inside inserts.
All carbon would be more expensive. Most CF hoods don't even have a frame.
I have seen the CF work they have done so far and it's incredible quality. I will be getting one for my car whether you all do or not.
Here is an example of the carbon work they did on a car over the last month or so:
http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_a/240000-240999/240016_37_full.jpg
Yes, that's all real carbon fiber. It's just plain  .
THAPRO1 July-8th-2003, 03:03 AM Price is 750$CAN (560$US).
so its 560 plus shipping? i think i'm just gonna go with the EGT carbon fiber hood then, its only 408 i belive and that includes shipping

Yes, shipping is extra.
Does the EGT hood bolt on directly with no mods to the lights or anything?
And does it have a full frame?
Also, is is a carbon laminate over a fiberglass hood, or full carbon except the frame?

here's sum stuff that i just copied and pasted from the web site where the hoods are made:
* Molds are created from original car hoods in their original stock shape to assure an exact fit.
* Manufactured with GENUINE carbon fiber laid over a fiberglass frame.
* Hoods are over 60% lighter than regular OEM hoods.
* Factory latches are fabricated with steel strike points and reinforced fiberglass to ensure strength.
* Hoods use factory mounting points: no hood pins or other accessories required for installation.
* Windshield washer nozzle mounting holes are not pre-drilled
* Black and extra cost Yellow, Red, Blue, and Silver colors available
* Multi layered clear Coat for a high gloss finish
* Stock hood shape (no scoops)
Hoods are shipped to the closest GPX terminal to your home. Door to door service is available at additional cost. Black hoods (pictured) are shipped from inventory, Colored hoods are special order and require 1-2 weeks for
completion.
Carbon Fiber Black Hood
Price: $408.99 ($314.99 plus $94.00 shipping)
Part No: Z6000
Select Model(Ford Vehicles):
98-02 ZX291-96 Escort/Tracer00-02 Focus98-99 Cougar
Carbon Fiber Colored Hood
Price: $508.99 ($414.99 + $94.00 shipping)
Part No: Z6001
i'm not saying people shouldn't buy your hood or anything i'm just saying that for me its more economical because of where i live
:D
yeah the hood should fit on with no mods to the lights unless you have a 93?-94 whenever they got the slanting 323 style lights those wouldn't work but the flat lights would work.
iwokeupfrmadrea is getting the same hood, and i had the idea about a yr or 2 ago to put a EGT carbon hood on the protege and i contacted sum guy on this forum and he said it wouldn't work but now ppl are ordering them and they say they've test fitted EGT carbon hoods and they fit fine
:D
peace dante:eek:
itzkcatz July-8th-2003, 06:50 PM Egt hoods bolt on u can get them on ebay for like 350 or so with a fiberglass frame and CF panel ..Jon
Bizob July-9th-2003, 12:24 AM What do you guys think of the Carbon S2K?
Roach220 July-9th-2003, 01:27 AM Hey I want the back bumper hood and trunk if there is a way for it not to be flushed if i have to pay more for it that way I will..And I should have the money for real soon..
Roach220 July-9th-2003, 12:29 PM Does the cf parts have that clasic woven carbon fiber look.
celi85 July-9th-2003, 01:14 PM im interested in the cf hood. i dont know if i will actually get it or not, but i would at least like to see what one looks like on the Pro/323. :)

Once again this proves that not everyone that says, " Yeah it'll work for sure, i've tried it...uhhh then i tried it two more times just to make sure," knows what the fuck they are talking about.
If you had an escort i'd say no prob go buy an "ESCORT" hood. The reason the Carbon Fiber hood for the pro is so much is because they still have to cover their expenses and make a little bit of profit on this.
Sure keep on arguing that you could use an escort hood......sure you could. Besides whats the big deal this is made precisely for the pro. This is the exact reason why no one makes parts for the pro. Everyone always complains about the price of things that are of grreat quality and have to be "CUSTOM" made for our car. BOO FUCKING HOO if crappy APC sells clear corners for civics for $25. Shitty quality APC can do that because they know that for sure they are going to sell enough civic corners in order to make profit. I ca GARUANTEE that not EVERYTHING was dirt cheap for hondas at first. It takes peoples interest for a company to really get motivated and really want to make something for the pro. Corporate companys dont care if some one can rice out a Protege or not, but if they can make money while selling ricey or actual performance products they're gonna' do it. I'm not trying to bash on any one here so please don't take it personally.
Hey Bizob i commend you on trying to get this group-buy thing going. Right now i don't have the money for the kit so..... i might be a maybe. If anything changes i will let you know. If the group-buy doesn't go through at all, will they still be willing to make a mold for any front bumper i want for the $600 or only on the R-34? Also how long are they willing to do this; will they still want to in 6 months? Thanks alot for what you are trying to do, and you have a great price on the kit too.
Bizob July-15th-2003, 01:57 AM Just saw the EGT hood in that thread... I'll save my opinion for myself. Let's just say the Eastend hood would be worth the extra dollars.
As for the kit still being available, so long as they are not too busy when 10 buyers get together, they will be ready to start as soon as the minimum has been met and the deposits have been recieved.
The front can be made in any style, but they will need to have a bumper in person to copy. They can't just make it from scratch from a picture or anything. They have other styles, though: Blitz, Black Widow, Buddy Club, W-Type. They have a 2001 JDM type-R bumper they were thinking of replicating if that interests you.... All of those and the R34 are available. Anything else would require that a bumper be sent to them.
Roach220 July-15th-2003, 11:28 AM Hey bizob I think I need to clear up a post from before I want the bumper first and foremost and I will have that money within a month and I would like the c/f parts but I dont know when I will have the money for it..
THAPRO1 July-16th-2003, 01:21 AM Just saw the EGT hood in that thread... I'll save my opinion for myself. Let's just say the Eastend hood would be worth the extra dollars.
I stand corrected,i feel so ashamed:(
oh well it would be worth the extra money but i don't have it:(
oh yeah by the way i dunno if this was ever answered or not but would we be able to get the c/f trunk only not flushed? if this has been answered already then my bad
peace dante:D
Bizob July-16th-2003, 02:27 AM I don't know about a non-flushed trunk.... Why would you want that anyways?....
I'll have to see if I can find a stock trunk and if the guy would be willing to make both types.
gen1pro July-16th-2003, 08:35 AM Well its me again from orlando Fl. I just wanted to check to see if mike recieved the money as of yet. It should be there. He said that you would be taking care of the shipping, so I need to know some info. I probably wont be here when it arrives so I need to know the amount so I can leave that with someone. I also need to know the tracking number so I can stay in touch with it. This will be greatly appreciated.
P.s. I'm glad you live in canada b/c I see that you repainted your car and it looks like we decided on the same color. Luckily we're so far apart we'd probably never see each other. Send me some pics so I can see it better.

Bizob July-16th-2003, 08:52 AM Hi Kwesi,
Mike did'nt have the money when I was there on Saturday, but if you sent it, he probably has it by now. I'll call him later to make sure.
As for the pictures, the only ones worth looking at I posted in this thread:
http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26231
I'll take more when I'm done putting the car back together...

hey i might be able to get the kit. so put me down as a maybe.(full kit). could i install it myself or do i need to take it some where?
I was able to install it myslef, but I have alot of experience with bodywork and there was some work required, but not alot.
It is highly recommended with any bodykit to have it installed by a professionnal.

Does anyone else want one?
itzkcatz August-8th-2003, 10:00 PM Do u have a pic of that bumper on a stock protege. Atleast without your sideskirts. I might need one to hold my plate i have a familia garnish
Bizob August-9th-2003, 01:53 AM Next time I take my sideskirts off (maybe tomorrow) I'll try to take a picture. It pretty much lines up with the pinch welding height-wise. It might look sort of wierd with everything else stock but I'll let you be the judge of that.
Bizob August-14th-2003, 05:48 PM Did'nt get a chance to take the pic of the rear only yet....
So what's going on? Does anyone else want a kit?
Tweeaks August-31st-2003, 04:51 PM Well, Bizob i guess the group-buy isn't going to go through?
Really appreciate you putting this together for us though really good price too. If it does eventually go through then let me know there might be someone in my town that is interested. So i guess you can take me off the list i'm going to be getting a 92-95 civic R-43/Octane kit that i'm going to be fitting to the pro. Good luck on the group-buy though and thanks again.
Jeremy
Bizob September-2nd-2003, 01:58 PM The groupbuy is still on, but for it to happen, we need more people to show interest. It's not worth doing if there are'nt enough participants.
Good luck with the Civic kit, Tweeaks .
Roach220 September-2nd-2003, 05:05 PM I am still in for the bumper but due to the fact I found a GTR motor that I can get it might take a little longer before I can get it. you go before show and Im not passing up a GTR:D
Pro1GT September-3rd-2003, 12:43 AM I'm still interested.. But I like to see a product first, Montreal is not really far and I am willing to drive to see what you have. Again, money is an issue and i just picked up my GTX motor today so i will need some time to come up with all the cash, i do have some.
Myers0034 September-7th-2003, 12:36 PM I own a 1991 Protege and I really want a body kit for my car. That body kit or yours is Nsaty, and id like to have it. I dont know how soon i can come up with the money, cause i cant right now. Funds are kinda tight for me right now, but as soon as i got the money id buy it, so im interrested thats as much as i can say.
dylan December-2nd-2003, 09:11 PM Hey... I have a 91 Protege and I am interested in the body kit. You can add me to your list, i just need a price.
dylan December-3rd-2003, 10:58 PM Is the group buy still on? And if it doesnt go through can i buy the kit on my own, and how much more would that be and how long would it be available to buy?
marc93lx December-4th-2003, 12:34 AM Wow, you resurected a 6 month old thread. You should probably contact Bizob directly for info on the body kit. I doubt he checks this thread anymore.
jink December-20th-2003, 02:22 AM Well, I am going to bump this thread as well, to hope the kit is still around. God awful sexy pictures of the protege. Wow.
BlkNyt June-21st-2004, 11:35 PM Bob put me down for the full kit. E-mail me if you have any questions.
