AT Light Blinking
Very Nervous - I have a 1600cc 2001-2002 Tiptronic Mazda Familia (aka Protege)...on my way home from work taking my cool time, I felt this 'bump' come from the car, then my AT light started blinking...the car was still driving, so I tried the tiptronic mode but nothing happened. I coasted to a stand still and the AT light went off. When I moved off again, all was fine, went into tiptronic mode fine, up to this point as if nothing ever happened...what could that possible be folks? I've noticed in recent times as well that the shifting wasn't quite as smooth as before but still acceptable...thoughts?

have you had your tranny serviced on time? Have you looked in the owners manual to see what the light means? There's a whole section in the manual that tells you what blinking lights mean on the dash. I'd start there.

Update - Driving home and the same thing happened...this time, when the AT was blinking I tried accelerating gradually and instead of shifting through the gears it just jumped to 1st gear, ...then from 1st gear it just kinda slumped through to drive, didn't go in 2nd or 3rd...then, I came to a stop, and everything went back to normal, light stopped blinking...WHAT DOES THIS MEAN????
