I was wondering if anyone could give suggestions as to which coilovers to go with? I am leaning towards ground control for their vesitlity and also the fact that they have Ebaich springs. Also I do not feel like spending 2 grand as I am an enthusiast and not a track racer

Plus you can change spring rates and lengths whenever you want.

I would wait til performance struts are available though, on the P5 that is.

If we stick with Mazdaspeed than we will not have the markets interest to push themselves to develop new products for our cars. Also if you think that only Mazda can develop superior parts than you are misguided. True they did design the car but Engineering is only applying formulas to any given situation, and I have delt with many an engineer that has screwed something up even if he does work for the manufaturer. Do Honda owners only uses parts from A division or association with Honda, No! I am not bad mouthing the engineers (as I am one) or trying to offend anyone , but if we continue to buy only Mazda supported products our cars will only be built the way they want them to be. Also why didn't Mazdaspeed build the suspension on the MP3? I guess they could not handle it!

I know that the Mazdaspeeds are out there, but not everyone is willing to pay that much for an adj., when they can wait a few months and get others for less.

That's all. I personally will be getting the Mazdaspeeds cause I get a deal, but it's really a rip off for the regular street guy. Even some non adj performance struts would be fine, and that would save a shitload over the Mazdaspeeds.

Wait for some other options to create competitiong and lower the price. I get a killer deal on Tokiko and I suggest waiting. IMO.

It's all about marketing. Mazda built the RX-7 and the Miata. Two of the best handling cars ever made. Do you really think they couldn't handle the suspension on the MP3, had it not been to their advantage to use an aftermarket source?

If you're not in to racing why do you need coilovers? Just get lowering springs and be done with it. I hope you're not planning on installing coilovers on factory shocks or even aftermarket OEM type replacement shocks. The coilovers will kill them in a matter of months.

That's my point. I do not need the overkill of racing coil overs but I also do not want slip ons. Hopefully someone will come out with a solution.

how do aftermarket lowering springs kill your stock shocks? like if you were to just buy eiback springs and replace your stock springs, how would they kill your shocks in a few months? a lot of people can only afford lowering springs and they have them on for years and nothing goes wrong with their shocks, i dont get it, pelase explain. thanks

Relax Zacky jmauld does'nt know what he is talking about, it depends on the application and GC makes adjustment plates that they sell for $200 to keep the tow correct etc. Also please get your car aligned after they are installed.

Sometimes (not always) these springs will lower the car so much that it places the factory shocks/struts into a position that they weren't designed to operate.

Also sometimes (not always) the springs are considerably stiffer then the stock springs. This increases the amount of work that the factory shocks/struts have to do. This can lead to premature failure of shocks because they aren't intended to handle the amount of load that you're asking it to handle.

Most people don't realize or don't care that they're riding around on blown shocks.

jcil, I'm going to ignore that comment, because I'm tired of bickering with you. You are correct that you should get an alignment done immediately after lowering your car.
