As you are all aware, fueling your car and inadvertently leaving gas cap loose IE; not turning until click is heard, results in a check engine light appearing on your dash. For those cars out of warranty the cost at the dealer to read the code for you is a min. of 20.00 depending on dealer of course. First, Mazda is not alone in this Lexus and ford are guilty as well. But dont you honestly think this should be addressed as an advisory light on dash stating "tighten cap" or something of the sort. Ever wonder what kind of revenue that generates?

ford burned me on that with a 98 sable. bastards. my own fault really. call it a stupidity tax. i'll only make that mistake once.

the new tauruses have a warning light on the dash apparently.
