Ticking!

I searched for Ticking and replied in the 2nd Gen and just thought I would move this to 3rd Gen as my car is a 3rd Gen. Anyways....

I recently changed my oil to 5W30 and have been driving for 3500kms on this oil. I have heard a ticking sound comming right from the engine. Its a pretty distinct ticking !!Will 10W30 lessen the noise when warm. I mean, all are cars sound like crap when cold. Will the 10W30 allow the engine to be quieter when warm? This of course does not make sense as they both have a weight of 30 when warm.....I had used 10W30 up until 3500kms ago and now ticking is loud when warm. And yes I checked oil and its up! Engine temp is normal! I have heard people say lifters need adjustment. Is this true!

I am also under waranty as mines a 01! Are dealers doing anything for this problem or are they just turning customers away, saying its normal and will not harm the engine?

Thanks guys and Gals!

it is common in our engines to hear some kind of ticking while the engine is running becuase our engines use solid cam followers. with solid cam followers, there is a distinct gap between the cam and the follower, and as the cam spins the clicking is from the cam coming into contact with the follower.

That's what I was thinking
I had a 280Z injectors were so loud you'd think it was gonna blow.
You are probably just noticing it now, but was there all along
