Protege5 Engine Power Loss

It's worst when you first hit the gas. Check engine started flashing. Even in Neutral, you can hear the engine pick up power roughly. Idles fine.

It's a 2002 Protege5. And I'm already dealing with rust, alignment, and brakes. The car has been sitting for weeks. Last time I drove it, it ran fine. I only started it once and let it idle for 10 minutes. Maybe I shouldn't have? I want to drive this nice riding car as my daily driver, but so far I've just been fixing things on it.
